This is our way of enabling you to learn a bit more about the non-professional “us,” since these non-professional values underlie our professional values, contribute to the breadth of the capabilities we bring to our consulting practice and, ultimately, may influence the relationship that may develop between us and you, the client. A few facts about Robert (me):

Quick look. Married (to a wonderful and talented banker and Chief Financial Officer), five children (two currently are teenagers), and nine grandchildren. A historian by training, I have a wide-ranging curiosity, especially in the areas of learning, process management and improvement, knowledge management, and the role played by information technology and the Internet in these areas.

A strong interest in the value of sports. I compete in amateur bicycle racing (United States Cycling Federation – USCF), principally in velodrome track racing and individual time trial events. I also try and ride 100 mile century bicycle rides at least twice annually. (I’m looking for a kindred spirit to ride across Death Valley with me.) My other active sports are running, tennis, cross-country skiing and golf.

A well-developed worldview. My career in the military and with the US Department of State blessed me with extensive travels in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa for twenty years, including a year at the American Embassy in Paris, France.

Everyone needs a trusted advisor. I love morning walks with my wife. It’s our opportunity to connect alone, and my opportunity to tap into a marvelous mind.

People and relationships are the core of life. Meeting and learning about new people is one of my joys in life, and I strive to return as much as I receive.

Community Service. Finally, as a result of my personal experience with prostate cancer, I created the Prostate Cancer Prevention Project, a registered California 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit charity with the mission of creatig events that will focus men's attention on the critical need for early detection of prostate cancer through screening beginning at the age of 30. Please visit the website at ProstateCancerPreventionProject.org. I would love to have you join with us in our mission.
